Forest,
a cathedral of columns
struggling towards light,
an earth fugue, its
music struck in
tubes of transformation.
Taproots suck,
their proboscis of thirst
seek routes through rock.
Their tongues wedge into fissures
to sip dark liquids from those
cold lips of stone.
